First, Robert Pattinson was Harry Potter's rival in "The Goblet of Fire", but then he died and went on to become a vampire in the "Twilight" series. And then, he went off the radar with big roles.

Do the films he chose to star in have specific things about them? "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" for instance, are bestselling books with solid fan-bases --- guaranteed box-office hits.

Well, as it turned out, that's not really the case. He really just does what he wants, never mind the fans. "I will go through periods where I will think, 'Oh, maybe I should do a commercial movie,' and then I just think, someone gave me a really great piece of advice - someone from my agency, weirdly - they said the only clients that are happy are the ones that just do what they want to do. So I just kind of do everything for myself," the 29-year-old actor said in an interview with the Associated Press.

This is ultimately the reason why he chose to take on the role of Dennis Stock in the upcoming film, "Life", which follows the life of a photographer and his friendship with Hollywood heartthrob James Dean in the earlier years.

Pattinson said of his role, "It is interesting to feel the power trip, especially when I was shooting the scene on the red carpet, when you are part of the massive throng of people, and not only are you part of the crowd and hidden but you have something you can hide your own face [with]."

"You just see all the pressure is on someone else. It is kind of nice, you feel all secure in your little pack. It is very different," he explained.

And lately, it seems that there has been a lot of pressure on the actor on the other side of the lens. In a report by the Mirror UK, it seems that he is struggling with his weight these days, often opting to shun the celebrity lifestyle and magazine shoots that would require him to show off his bod. " I had to go on holiday to an extravagant secret location this year because I was afraid of someone photographing my gut," he shared.

It's not like he's gotten obese or anything, but he's not happy about it, as he is finding it harder to lose weight these days. "It used to be that I could start working out four weeks before a job and it would be totally fine. Now? Nothing happens. You just beat your body into submission," he shared.
