‘Tokyo Ghoul’ Season 1 Limited Edition DVD/Blu-ray Set Comes Out Today: Price, Where to Buy & More

Season one of "Tokyo Ghoul" will be released in a limited edition DVD/Blu-ray set by FUNimation today, September 22, 2015. Prior to release date, fans were treated to a preview of the new English Dub featured on the season 1 copy, reports Fandom Post. Click here, for the preview.
According to FUNimation's official website, the limited edition DVD/Blu-ray set for "Tokyo Ghoul" costs $52.49. However, other sites have a different listing price. For example, on Amazon the Blu-ray limited edition set costs only $49.99, while the standard copy costs just a couple bucks less at $42.99.
The package comes with a set of special features, which include: episode commentaries, Kaneki in black and white, Japanese commercials, promotional videos, preview collection, textless opening songs, textless closing songs, the U.S. trailer and other trailers.
The first 12 episodes of the anime -- from "Tragedy" to "Ghoul" -- are featured in the discs, in both English and Japanese. There are also English subtitles in the copies, but it does not support closed captioning.
For those interested in a different package,the "Tokyo Ghoul" Collector's Edition can be found on Right Stuf Anime. The collector's edition is priced at $84.49 and comes with a different set of features. Those who order from Right Stfu Anime will receive the following package bonuses: a series art book, a ghoul bandanna-mask, Kaneki's journal, an art card, a clear sleeve and a specialty print.
For anime fans unfamiliar with "Tokyo Ghoul," it is an anime that can be categorized under several genres, including: horror, supernatural, drama, action and fantasy.
The popular anime was directed by Shuhei Morita, an Oscar-nominated director. According to IMDB, Morita was nominated for Best Short Animated Film in 2014 for his work on "Tsukumo." Meanwhile, Studio Pierrot produced "Tokyo Ghoul." The studio has released a number of legendary anime including "Bleach" and "Yu Yu Hajusho."
FUNimation gives the following synopsis for the anime series:
"In modern day Tokyo, society lives in fear of Ghouls: mysterious creatures who look exactly like humans -- yet hunger insatiably for their flesh. None of this matters to Ken Kaneki, a bookish and ordinary young man, until a dark and violent encounter turns him into the first ever Ghoul-human half breed. Trapped between two worlds, Ken must survive the violent conflicts of warring Ghoul factions, while attempting to learn more about Ghoul society, his newfound powers and the fine line between man and monster."
Season 2 of the anime has already wrapped up, so "Tokyo Ghoul" fans are now waiting for the next season to premiere. The release date for season 3 of the anime is yet to be announced.
