Samsung's next phone instalments, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, are now rumored to come out with features similar to Apple iPhone releases.
Android Origin reported that the S7 and its bigger brother are rumored to come with magnesium alloy, which is the same material used by Apple in its iPhones. It added that this material is great for "for dissipating the heat" and is also believed to be the strongest alloy.
Quoting a report by South Korean news site inews24.com, BGR reported that this material also gained the interest of Samsung since it will make the phone more durable and lightweight.
It added that Apple earlier revealed its iPhone 6s instalments which are made of aluminum to avoid the repeat of the "bendgate" scandal.
"The company is using 7000 Series aluminum for the phone's metal shells, which is the same grade metal utilized in the aerospace industry," added BGR.
But it noted that testing of the metal shells of the newly released phones also revealed that Apple might have mixed zinc and magnesium on the aluminum compound.
In addition, BGR also mentioned that South Korean website kbench reported that Samsung also filed a request for trademark for the Turtle Glass.
This is reportedly the new glass cover which will take the place of the Gorilla Glass in the upcoming devices to be introduced by Samsung.
"So far, Samsung partnered with Corning on various handsets, but the company might be working on display protection technology of its own. It's not clear at this time what this rumored Turtle Glass will have to offer," added BGR.
Android Origin noted that the the release of the next Samsung phones could be as early as January next year.
An earlier UberGizmo report noted that two Galaxy S7 variants (S7 and S7 Edge) are expected with one being powered by an Exynos chipset and the other by Qualcomm by next year.
"Samsung is said to be testing both models so it is possible that maybe at the end of the day, Samsung will end up choosing just one," UberGizmo said.
According to TechTimes, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will also reportedly come with a 5.5-inch 4K Super AMOLED display.
The same report added that the Galaxy S7 may also be equipped with a 4GB RAM and will be powered by a 64-bit Exynos 3.5 GHz processor. For storage, the device could come with 32, 64, 128 GB variants.
The Galaxy S7 is rumored to have a 30MP rear camera and 10MP front camera.
"It will also have a new camera feature dubbed 'gigapixel' that will allow the user to capture images with more accuracy and clarity," TechTimes reported.
The new Galaxy S7 will also reportedly feature an "infrared sensor" that can accurately measure body temperatures of its users.
The device is expected to have different price ranges than its predecessor. The upcoming 32GB variant of the Galaxy S6 is projected to cost around $999.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S7 Edge will come with curved displays when it becomes available by next year according to ValueWalk.
