Bryan Singer, current "X-Men: Apocalypse" director, recently announced that his next movie project will be based on the classic Jules Verne novel, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." Singer made the announcement through Instagram, reports Variety.

The "X-Men" director posted a picture of the script for the movie adaptation of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." The picture indicates that Singer himself worked on the movie adaptation's story, along with Rick Sordelet and Dan Studney.

Dan Studney has worked with Singer on "Jack The Giant Slayer," the only movie the director has helmed outside of the "X-Men" franchise.

Meanwhile, Rick Sordelet seems to be a newcomer to the screenplay business, as he has no previous writing credits as of yet, states Cinema Blend.

Singer captioned his Instagram post of the script saying,"It's my 50th birthday (ouch), and I just put the finishing touches on the script for my next film. A story I've wanted to retell since childhood." He adds,"I promise this will be an epic and emotional adventure for all ages! An adventure very dear to my heart."

After proclaiming his love for Verne's classic novel, the director makes sure to mention that he will not stop working on the "X-Men" universe. "Not abandoning the #xmen universe. Very excited about #xmenapocalypse and beyond..."

The latter part of his post hints that there will be more "X-Men" movies in the future and Singer will be part of them. 

Even though the script seems done, Singer still has to find a studio to fund and produce his adaptation. According to Joblo, there have been past movie projects of "20,000 Leagues" that have not seen fruition.

One project was proposed by David Fincher to Disney, and the other by Timur Bekamambetov, who sought support from Fox studios. Both movie projects seemed hopeful at first, but eventually failed to take flight.  

However, Singer has high chances of getting support. Joblo predicts that Fox will fund Singer's film due to its relationship with the director.

After all, Singer has proven to Fox already that his projects are capable of raking in revenue. In fact, just last year, Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" grossed $784 million worldwide.
