A new image of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" new major villain has been revealed as the countdown to its upcoming premiere nears.

A report from Mirror UK shows Kylo Ren wielding his scarlet-hued lightsaber in what looks like a scene taken from the actual filming.

According to the outlet, the image was taken from the official Facebook account of Star Wars, captioned with a quotation from the villainous character: "Together we will destroy the Resistance and the last Jedi."

The report described the photo as a portrayal of the "darker" side of Adam Driver's character which has continued to boggle the minds of waiting fans for he had always remained "shrouded" in mystery.

The Week revealed that the film, which is due in theaters in the United States on December 18, is expected to be released exactly 24 hours earlier in the United Kingdom.

What may be more frustrating to U.S. Star Wars fans is that the French would be able to watch the highly anticipated film even earlier with the France release date set for December 16.

For the past few weeks, trailers of the movie provided fans with glimpses of almost all characters that should be expected to be seen in the film including the original ones like Chewbacca, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker.

New faces like John Boyega playing the rebellious stormtrooper Finn and Daisy Ridley as scavenger Rey would also be joining the stellar cast.

Kylo Ren is also a new addition to the cast and one of the most talked about characters especially after he was compared to the classic Star Wars villain, Darth Vader.

"Kylo Ren without the hood. Looks a tad more like Vader now. #StarWarsTheForceAwakens #StarWars," Twitter user Taylor Landline described the Kylo Ren toy.

This comparison, director J.J. Abrams told Entertainment Weekly, is a little bit close to the truth considering that Ren's outfit was actually a nod to the Vader image.

"The movie explains the origins of the mask and where it's from, but the design was meant to be a nod to the Vader mask. [Ren] is well aware of what's come before, and that's very much a part of the story of the film," he stated.

While there may be some negative predictions on how the movie would fare in the box office charts upon its release particularly Forbes, The Week still see the franchise to hit it big considering how the fans reacted to the release of Star Wars: Episode VII merchandise.
