The 2013 Wimbledon Open Championships have just witnessed perhaps the wildest opening three days of competition at All England Club as top seeds and former champions fell one by one in the increasingly unpredictable grass court tournament.

Rafael Nadal's first round exit at the hands of Steve Darcis (withdrawn from tournament with shoulder injury) was apparently just a sneak peak to what happened next as 5 of the top-10 seeded players in the men's singles draw and also 5 of the top-10 women's single draw are not any longer playing in tourney after they pulled out with injuries or got stunned by lower seeded players.

Some of the big names in tennis that became victims of Wimbledon's wrath are Ana Ivanovic, Maria Kirilenko, Sara Errani, Victoria Azarenka, and former champion Maria Sharapova on the women's side. Stanislas Wawrinka, Marin Čilić, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Rafael Nadal, and seven-time Wimbledon Open champion Roger Federer also made their exit early in the tourney.

The ouster of Federer was the biggest news in tennis as he succumbed to world's 116th Serhiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine 7-6, 6-7, 5-7, 6-7 before a shell-shocked crown on Center Court. Wednesday's stunner ended Federer's run of 36th straight quarterfinals appearance in a Grand Slam tournament.

The surprises might continue on Thursday when world's no.1 Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams return in action for the second-round play.

Djokovic, who's looking for his second Wimbledon championship, will face Bobby Reynolds of the United States in the final game scheduled on Center Court. Meanwhile, Williams will take on Caroline Garcia of France in the first game scheduled on Court no.1

Other top-seeded players playing on Thursday are Juan Martín del Potro (vs. Jesse Levine), Richard Gasquet (vs. Go Soeda), David Ferrer (vs. Roberto Bautista-Agut), Tomáš Berdych (vs. Daniel Brands), Sabine Lisicki (vs. Elena Vesnina), and Agnieszka Radwańska (vs. Mathilde Johansson).
