Snapchat, one of today's fastest-growing photo- and video-messaging apps, recently released an update, heralding both good and bad news to users worldwide.
According to Hypable, the good part of the update includes a number of fun Lenses for selfie lovers. For non-snapchatters, Lenses are special effects people use to modify their pictures, The Independent tells.
As familiar users would expect, the filters add extra fun to selfies. One turns people old, one takes users inside Iron Man's helmet, and one that enlarges eyes.
Another seems to come straight out of an episode of "Gravity Falls!" It allows people to look like they are vomiting rainbows. On the popular cartoon show, a Gnome actually pukes out the colorful hues, similar to the new face filter on Snapchat.

In addition to the new selfie filters, Snapchat subscribers can now replay their friends' pictures and videos multiple times. However, these replays will cost some money. As reported by BuzzFeed, snapchatters can get three replays for 99 cents.
Previously, snapchatters were allowed to view one free replay per day. Buzz Feed suspects that the daily replay was a test to see if snapchatters would be interested in more replays. Seeing that the app is now charging for extra replays, it would seem that the feature was quite popular with snapchatters.
The free daily replay is will still be available on the app. Snapchatters will only be charged for additional replays.
For those unfamiliar with Snapchat, the app only allows videos and photos to be shared for a certain amount of time, explains Pocket-Lint. Once the time runs out, the video or message cannot be viewed again.
There are two different forms of messages on Snapchat, each with a different time limit: a Snap and a Story. A snap is basically a photo or video taken through the Snapchat app.
Snapchatters can send an unlimited amount of snaps to their friends. However, the snaps have a time limit of 1 to 10 seconds, meaning it can only be viewed within the time limit. Then it disappears.
Then there is a story, which is a type of snap that can be mass-sent to friends. People can view a story for up to 24 hours, before it disappears.
What do you think about Snapchat's Lenses? Will 99 cents be worth three replays? Sound off in the comments section!
