With the iOS 9 made available for download Wednesday, Apple fans are expecting a lot from the update especially on the performance of the company's devices running on this new system.
Wall Street Journal said that the update comes for free to all recent Apple devices including the iPhone 4s and iPad 2. It added that the highlight of the new operating system is stability which means there will be "fewer hair-pulling bugs, slowdowns and battery problems."
This update is also considered to be a makeup for Apple's failure with the iOS 8 last year.
"The one that left some with no cellular connectivity-that it even gave fearless users the opportunity to test out the new software early and report bugs," said Wall Street Journal of the previous iOS release.
Discussing more details of the iOS 9, Wall Street Journal added that the update would need 1.3GB space for a user to be able to properly update an Apple device.
Meanwhile, Wired said that users should also check the compatibility of their devices to the update. Bad news for iPhone 4 users since the iOS 9 has not been made available for them.
Users are also advised to back up their files, contacts and other important things stored in their devices.
Wired said files can be backed up using iCloud by "going to Settings > iCloud > Backup. Next, make sure "iCloud Backup" is turned on, and hit "Back Up Now" (keep in mind that you need to be connected to Wi-Fi to do this)."
Or it could be done via iTunes by clicking File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, then File > Devices > Back Up.
With everything prepped up for download, the iOS 9 is ready for users to experience but they may need a stable connection to complete the update.
Aside from these details, CNet said that the update also has hidden features like the ability to select multiple photos and videos, hiding multiple images, sketching on e-mail attachments, finding recommendations of restaurants, shops or bars, determining travel times for calendar events and dyeing able to send quickly photos and videos.
Aside from these features, the Wall Street Journal noted that the iOS 9 has improved the battery life of an iPhone 6 by 40 more minutes.
"Those savings come from tweaks Apple has made to better manage the power efficiency of its own apps, including Safari," added the same report.
It was also noted that when an Apple device is not in use, it will not illuminate even when there are notifications.
This new operating system seems to be a promising development for Apple which fans have been waiting for.
