Upon the return of "Bones" next year after its winter hiatus, fans can look forward to the introduction of a new villain in the comedy-drama series.

According to CarterMatt.com, the title of the upcoming episode, "The Ghost in the Killer," hints about the arrival of a new "major villain for the season" in the Ghost Killer, who has been teased in the past.

Unfortunately, Fox has yet to reveal details or spoilers about the episode or the villain, although we do know that the figure is mysterious, likes to hang out in the shadows, and he's nothing like tech super-genius Pelant.

The first promo also doesn't quell growing anticipation about the Ghost Killer since, more than likely, producers are probably waiting a to build up the story before promoting it.

Despite suspicion that Fox scheduled the long-running drama to Friday nights and planned to cancel the show, "Bones" producers say the show has shown resiliency and that they're looking ahead to a 10th season. Season nine will also end with a milestone cliffhanger.

"We're going out on a pretty big cliffhanger at the end of this [ninth] season," executive producer Stephen Nathan tells TVLine. "It will change, at least temporarily, the landscape of the show. It really will be a very big shift in how Booth and Brennan will be dealing with crimes in the future."

However, Nathan says they have a "contingency plan" is in place just in case Fox decides to pull the plug. If that happens, then he says the season finale will be turned into a series finale.

Nathan also revealed to TV Line that the show is casting a new male squintern in 2014.

"He's someone who came to the country seeking asylum," says Nathan. "He was a very, very prominent forensic anthropologist in his own country, but [in the U.S.] he's a student because he has to get his degree again. He has to work his way up to a position that he already occupied for many years. He feels that he's Brennan's equal, but Brennan really doesn't feel the same." Nathan added that "He's not from the Middle East. He defected from this hemisphere. So that's something that everyone should be able to narrow down."
