Helmer Colin Trevorrow is already hinting at the new "Star Wars Episode IX" way ahead of the release of Episode VII "The Force Awakens" this December.

Just a month after Alan Horn from Walt Disney confirmed that the "Jurassic World" director would be doing the next "Star Wars" episode, Trevorrow is already "hitting the books" in preparation for his upcoming project, Comic Book Sources reported Tuesday.

The 38-year-old filmmaker Tweeted a photo of a Lucasfilm notebook, hinting that he is already starting a brainstorming process for the flick with the not-so-cryptic words: "Back to school. #IX."

According to iO9, this revelation can rightfully be described as "too early" considering that the film which is not due in theaters until 2019 and would follow one more sequel that is scheduled to be released in theaters sometime in 2017 under the careful direction of "Looper" helmer Rian Johnson.

Trevorrow's skills became known after his breakout indie movie "Safety Not Guaranteed" released in 2012.

After being announced as the new addition to the stellar group of "Star Wars" filmmakers, Trevorrow revealed that the gig was not just any job for him in a statement cited by Entertainment Weekly.

"It is a seat at a campfire, surrounded by an extraordinary group of storytellers, filmmakers, artists and craftspeople. We've been charged with telling new stories for a younger generation because they deserve what we all had -- a mythology to call their own," he explained.

He further noted that he and his team of "Star Wars" experts would be 'channeling' what George Lucas introduced to the "Star Wars" audience: "boundless creativity, pure invention and hope."

Meanwhile, Lucasflm president Kathleen Kennedy revealed exactly why they chose the director to do the job.

"Colin is someone I've been interested in working with ever since I saw 'Safety Not Guaranteed.' The power of that film paired with the enormous success of Jurassic World speaks volumes about his abilities both as a storyteller and skilled filmmaker," she stated.

"We are thrilled to have such an incredible talent as Colin join our family and step into the Star Wars universe."

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly revealed that J.J. Abrams would not be returning as the director or scriptwriter for the finale of the new "Star Wars" trilogy though he reportedly would still be involved in the two upcoming films as a producer.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is expected to hit the silver screen on December 17, 2015 while Episode VIII, according to Comic Book Sources, is not expected in theaters until December 2017.
