You probably don't remember this, but once upon a time, Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez were an item. Yep, they were. It was before the Justin Bieber era and is considered ancient history, but considering how popular Sel has been lately, it's about time someone did a rehash on a romance of many moons past.

In a new single called "Area Code" which he posted on Sound Cloud, Nick sang "You say I never been good for you, you can't deny I gave it good to you," which, according to the New York Daily News, is a reference to Sel's summer hit, "Good For You".

While this could be a random thing (after all, being "good" for someone is just another romantic cliche) but Nick himself fanned the flames when he favorited tweets from fans who made the connection with his song to Sel.

The pop stars dated briefly in 2008, but with Justin Bieber out of the picture for good (at least many seem to think so) and Nick splitting with his girlfriend Olivia Culpo earlier this year, the former (and probably current) couple was recently seen together this summer while having dinner in Los Angeles. Of course, back then, Nick played coy and refused to address the dating rumors, saying instead that "it was nice to connect and just catch up" with the other former Disney starlet.

They were also seen canoodling at the MTV VMAs just last weekend, but whatever is happening with them, Nick only managed to make the rumors run awry with his new song.

It's not that the pair can avoid each other in Hollywood -- they pretty much run in the same circles, and with Nick's brother Joe dating Sel's and Taylor Swift's good friend, model Gigi Hadid, their world only got a little smaller, as reported by Mirror UK.

Looks like Sel really knows a thing or two about keeping the boys hanging because this is not the first time this week that she was subject to a blink-and-you'll-miss-it shout out from a former flame. It has been noted that her name was spray painted on the wall of a skate park in a new Justin Bieber video called "What Do You Mean" which debuted last Sunday.

Nick and Sel look like they've gotten a bit cozier lately, so do you think this song really is about the "Neighbors 2" star? Listen to the track here and judge for yourself.
