"Jane the Virgin" star Jenna Ortega is set to headline Disney Channel's new Latino comedy "Stuck in the Middle."

According to Variety, the single-camera TV show tells the story of the Diaz family and is told through the POV of Ortega's Harley, an engineering genius "who uses her inventions to navigate life as the middle child in a large family of seven kids."

"Harley's overlooked status proves to be both a blessing and a curse, as she maneuvers her way through the everyday antics that come with being part of a big family," Variety added.

Harley's siblings will be played by a combination of prominent Disney faces and newcomers: Ronni Hawk as Rachel, Kayla Maisonet ("Dog With a Blog") as Georgie, Isaak Presley ("Austin & Ally") as Grant, Nicolas Bechtel ("General Hospital") as Danny, Malachi Barton ("Best Friends Whenever") as Beast, and Ariana Greenblatt ("Liv and Maddie") as Daphne, Variety listed.

Linda Videtti Figueiredo serves as the executive producer and showrunner of "Stuck in the Middle," the news outlet further wrote. The pilot teleplay, which was picked up by the network in February 2015, was co-written by Figueiredo and Alison Brown from a story by the latter.

The family sitcom, which is scheduled for a 2016 release date with production kicking off in November, is aimed to target the Latino programming, Variety noted. Ortega, who currently stars as Young Jane on "Jane the Virgin," is being groomed by Disney Channel as its next big star. She previously appeared in Fox's "Rake," "CSI: NY," and Netflix's "Richie Rich." Her big screen credits include "Iron Man 3," "Insidious: Chapter 3," and in this year's "After Words."

Ortega's co-star on "Jane the Virgin," Gina Rodriguez, tweeted that she is "unbelievably proud" of the child actress. Ortega also expressed her gratitude for Disney Channel, tweeting: "So blessed! Thanks @Disney for believing in me. I promise to work hard. Crying tears of joy!"

'Jane the Virgin' Season 2

Rodriguez described Season 2 of "Jane the Virgin" as "smart" and "just keeps getting better," adding that fans should expect more love triangle drama between Jane, Rafael (Justin Baldoni), and Michael (Brett Dier)," People reported.

The actress also said that the upcoming season will showcase how Jane will deal with motherhood.

"You're going to venture with Jane and her discovery of trying to figure out motherhood," she said, as quoted by People. "Right away in the first episode, you have some real, honest, vulnerable things that happen to Jane that have to do with motherhood."

"Jane the Virgin" returns for its second season on Oct. 12 at 9 PM ET on The CW.
