After publishing an opinion piece about businessman and politician Donald Trump, NBA Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also received a powerful criticism from the business mogul claiming that the press could not stand the former basketball player.

In an op-ed entitled "This is the difference between Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders" published by the Washington Post Wednesday, Abdul-Jabbar compared the two presidential candidates in terms of "grace under pressure."

"And how each man responded revealed the type of person he is and the type of president he would make: Trump authored his own doom, and Sanders opened immense new possibilities as a compassionate person and serious candidate for president," the NBA legend wrote.

He added that Trump also criticized members of the press and their First Amendment Rights.

"Attempting to bully the press to silence criticism of him is anti-American. He followed up this salvo on the First Amendment with a strike at the 14th Amendment, asserting that he'd like to deny those born in the country their citizenship. The biggest enemy to the principles of the Constitution right now is Trump," Abdul-Jabbar furthered.

But Trump was not going to keep quiet just like that. A separate Washington Post report noted that the businessman penned his message directly on Abdul-Jabbar's opinion piece which read:

"Dear Kareem,

Now I know why the press always treated you so badly - they couldn't stand you. The fact is that you don't have a clue about life and what has to be done to make America great again!

Best wishes,

Donald Trump"

According to Huffington Post, the basketball legend tagged Trump's reply as "best, though inelegant, support for my claims."

This is not the first heated debate Trump got involved into especially after his so-called "racist" comments made against the Latinos during the announcement of his presidential bid.

In another political move, Trump signed on Thursday a pledge of the Republican National Committee (RNC) promising to support the party's nominee and not run as a "third-party" candidate, as per NBC News.

"I will be totally pledging my allegiance to the Republican Party and the conservative principles for which it stands. And we will go out and we will fight hard and we will win," Trump said in a New York press conference.

He added that the RNC was fair to him when he became a presidential candidate.

"I see no circumstances under which I would tear up that pledge," the business mogul added in the NBC News report.

In addition, CNN reported that Trump expressed confidence that the party will fight hard and win.
