Medical Drama "Grey's Anatomy" will have a very different tone next season --- what with a major death and a time jump from last season.

The premiere for its twelfth season, which Hollywood Life noted is set for September 12, will have to carry on without Patrick Dempsey's Derek Shepherd, whose death was a big cloud for fans.

However, believe it or not, there will be a lot of better developments for "Grey's", and according to the outlet, it will go back to its roots, with a lot of flirtings, dating, sex, and more. A source for Variety shared that the next season will be some sort of "throwback", when Meredith and Derek first fell in love after what should have been a one-night stand. Except that, you know, you can't expect a grieving widow jumping the sack this time around.

Show creator Shonda Rimes said at the 2015 Television Critic's Association Tour, "I have not planned to [bring in a love interest for Meredith], and that's not really the focus of what we're doing with her right now."

She explained, "I think Meredith is in a rebirth and she's evolving. I'm watching the character do what the character's doing and I'll see where it goes. I'm not going to say we're definitely not doing it because I could be wrong, but that's not my plan right now. You can't just drop a guy in and be like, 'There he is!'" 

While the new male lead, Martin Henderson is not in the cards for being Meredith's next great love, other characters will be having hot lives next season.

Debbie Allen's newly married Dr. Catherine Avery, for instance, will have a good life with James Pickens Jr's Dr. Richard Weber. She said, "We'll just say that we are giving new life to sexy over fifty. We have a very hot relationship. Richard has got her busy."

Alex and Jo (Justin Chambers and Camilla Lunddington) are living together in their new loft as their romance progresses, while Owen and Amelia (Kevin McKidd and Caterina Scorsone) are trying to see whether or not they're going to stick with being friends with benefits or go for something more.

Sadly, Callie and Arizona (Sara Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw) are not getting back together, but will develop a new level of maturity in their friendship. April and Jackson (Sarah Drew and Jesse Williams) are also split up, but viewers will know what happens to the relationship as the new season premieres, reported Chicago Tribune.

And for Meredith who is off by herself? The new episodes are said to focus on her personal rebirth.
