There have always been feuds in hip-hop. It keeps the music engaging and colorful. It’s entertainment not only listening to the conflict unravel, but also dissecting the subtle disses from their music. Their aggregations are cleverly laced in between their rhymes, undetectable by the untrained ear. It’s a back and forth mind game that engages not only the parties involved, but their fans as well.
The latest hip-hop feud comes in Future’s “Sh!t” remix from featured rapper Drake, who takes direct shots at Kendrick Lamar, with whom he’s had an ongoing tussle since Kendrick’s verse on “Control.” Drakes dis is as follows.
“I hear you talk about your city like you run that/ And I brought my tour to your city/ You my son there, n****/ If a n**** say my name, he the hot sh**/ But if I say the n**** name he still the hot sh**/ F***ed up/ Lucky I don't feed into the gossip."
Kendrick’s original statements criticized Drake for being too soft, an accusation that’s thrown his way often.
"Yeah, and nothing’s been the same since they dropped 'Control'/ And tucked a sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes," he raps. "Ha-ha jokes on you, high-five, I’m bulletproof/ Your sh**'ll never penetrate/ Pin the tail on the donkey/ Boy you been a fake".
