HTC has not succeeded well in its past flagship phones, but the company's new handset is expected to turn things around.

Last June, Cher Wang, HTCs chairwoman and CEO, apologized to the public saying that "HTC's recent performance has let people down," as stated in a report from Taipei Times.

According to Wang, HTC's failure was due to its "poor operational efficiency and overly conservative marketing strategy," which are not suitable for the global market's current fierce competition, the news outlet noted. The HTC One M9 launched in April gained negative feedbacks because of its similarity with the One M8.

However, it looks like HTC is ready to up their game. Recent reports have claimed that HTC's new smartphone will not be called the One M10, and will instead bear the name HTC O2, Phones Review reported.

Listed below are the rumored specs, release date, and price of the HTC O2. Note that these are all unconfirmed at the moment and the company is yet to issue an official announcement regarding their new product.

HTC O2 Design & Display

According to Android Pit, the HTC O2's design will bear close resemblance to HTC's last two flagship mobile devices. Still, the HTC O2 will have its own characteristics: both the device and its screen will be larger than the One M9.

The new phone is also said to be thinner with its edges barely noticeable, and will be equipped with a metal casing just like its predecessors, Android Pit added.

As for its screen display size, Android Pit translated from Mobile-Dad that HTC's new smartphone model will have a 6-inch screen and QHD resolution (1440 x 2560), which means a density of 490 dpi.

HTC O2 Other Specs

Phones Review wrote that the HTC O2 will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor, along with 4GB of RAM and internal storage options of 64GB or 128GB. Other specs include an Adreno 530 graphics, 20.7-megapixel primary camera, 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, 3500 mAh battery, and BoomSound stereo speakers.

In addition, Android Pit reported from Mobile-Dad that the HTC O2 will have the Android Marshmallow as its operating system. There are also expectations that the device will be dust and water resistant.

HTC O2 Release Date & Price

Android Pit speculated that the HTC O2 will be announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in Feb. 2016 and will hit store shelves by March or April. The handset will likely have a starting price of $800 to $900, a fee that justifies the smartphone's high-end specs.
