The last few weeks brought leaked photos of the three variants of the alleged Sony Xperia Z5: the standard Z5, the Z5 Compact, and the Z5 Premium. Just recently, a video of a Sony spokesman's interview with a French journalist surfaced online showcasing the tech giant's new handsets.
Sony Xperia Z5 Specs
According to The Verge, the interview seems to have confirmed that all three Z5 phones will be equipped with a 23-megapixel camera, along with a fingerprint scanner and dust and waterproof features.
As for the devices' screen displays, the Z5 Compact will come with a 4.6-inch screen with 720p resolution, while the standard Z5 is at 5.2 inches with a 1080 x 1920 display. The larger Z5 Premium appears to have a 5.5-inch screen and will have a resolution of 3840 x 2160, marking it as the first 4K smartphone, as stated by Terme, The Verge wrote.
The video was pulled out from YouTube due to a copyright claim, but copies of the recording are still on the video sharing website. For the leaked alleged photos, head to xperiablog.net.
Phone Arena claimed that the Xperia Z5 handsets will be available in different colors. Powering Sony's next flagship is the Snapdragon 810 SoC, which carries an octa-core 2.0GHz CPU and the Adreno 430 GPU. 3GB of RAM is also included along with 32GB of internal storage.
A separate report from xperiablog.net said that Sony's new smartphones will have the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 serving as its operating system, with an OmniBalance design language in use as well, which is a minimalistic design execution that only displays the essentials, with balance and symmetry in every direction.
Back in April, there were reports claiming that Sony will ditch the angular design of its smartphones, CNET reported. Fans should wait if this rumor will come to fruition when the Xperia Z5 finally rolls out.
Release Date & Price
The Xperia Z5 handsets are expected to be announced at IFA 2015 in Berlin kicking off on Sept. 4, The Verge noted.
In addition, there are hearsays claiming that the Xperia Z5 will launch alongside the new James Bond film installment, "Spectre," as a device specially made for the iconic agent, Tech Radar wrote. PC Advisor speculated that the Xperia Z5 will have a starting price of $770.
Take note that these are all rumors for now and Sony is yet to issue an official announcement for their latest products.
