Apple's iOS 9 beta 5, which was released earlier in August, contains new features and updates to the already existing ones of the operating system.
Listed below are the most notable features of the tech giant's upcoming OS available in iPhone and iPad devices.
Content Blocking
The iOS 9 comes with a feature called "content blocking" for those annoyed with advertisements, cookies, and trackers popping up on their screens while browsing the Internet.
This feature was already available to users with Safari desktop browsers, Tech Times reported. Now, the corporation is ready to widen the extension's reach.
"The new Safari release brings Content Blocking Safari Extensions to iOS. Content Blocking gives your extensions a fast and efficient way to block cookies, images, resources, pop-ups, and other content," according to an Apple developer blog.
Split-View
The Split-View feature allows the use of two apps side-by-side and simultaneously.
For example, users can now take a look at their Mail inbox via a quick swipe while in the middle of composing a message, Ledger Gazette reported. This feature can be accessed by sliding down the top of the pane, Ars Technica noted.
Apple iOS 9 vs Microsoft Windows 10
Apple's iOS 9 has a serious competitor in Microsoft's new Windows 10. Each OS brings out impressive features designed to increase productivity and efficiency.
According to PC-Tablet, the two operating systems are both "built with an excellent psychology." There are differences in their interface, though: Apple's iOS 9 showcases the apps on a grid on the springboard, while Windows 10 has the apps arranged alphabetically and can be accessed with a left swipe.
Windows 10's virtual assistant, Cortana, is also said to be more productive and more advanced than Apple's Siri, PC-Tablet added. Cortana has the ability to look for a person on Facebook, while Siri has been upgraded to perform communication with apps.
Enhanced Siri
A few weeks ago, it was reported that Siri is capable of reading minds, or at least anticipate a user's needs and habits.
Predictive Siri learns a user's routine and favorite apps to use over time, TNW reported. The feature's suggestions are on point, and even makes it based on the types of apps a person uses at different times of the day. Basically, Predictive Siri is wired to know what its user wants to do without any commands.
Another ability of the Predictive Siri is its location-based suggestion, TNW added. This feature suggests apps that is widely used in a specific location or based on what you regularly use in a place.
