Presidential candidate Donald Trump remains confident that members of the Latino community in the U.S. 'love' him despite his controversial comment about Mexicans and a fiery encounter with Univision journalist Jorge Ramos.

The investment mogul was recently entangled in issues with the Hispanic community after being very vocal about his opinion about illegal immigration in the country.

On Wednesday, Trump had even been in a confrontation with Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, whom he ordered to be ejected from a press conference.

According to Vox, Ramos is most probably the most influential journalist and the "most trusted name in Latino news."

The fact that Trump crossed him, let alone had him removed from the place where press freedom should have been exercised, had some speculating that Trump would most probably be the most hated politician in the Latino community.

Here is what happened during the encounter.

Interestingly, the GOP presidential candidate allowed the journalist to return to the press conference where they had an extended exchange about issues on immigration and the Latinos' rights.

Many members of the media have expressed their opinions on the matter. Ken Oliver-Méndez, the director of the Media Research Center's Hispanic arm, said that there are "very opinionated, very sweeping condemnations of Donald Trump taking place," according to the New York Times.

On the other side of the spectrum, several critics of the Spanish-language media have pointed out that the Hispanic press is "taking Trump through the prism of what's best for the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country," forcing some unfavorable comments out of him that had portrayed him "like an enemy."

What is interesting is that, despite it all, Trump still believes that he has won over the U.S. Latino community, according to a report from a New Jersey news bureau.

In fact, Trump is so confident at Latino support for him that he said, "Do you know how many Latinos work for me? Do you know how many Hispanics are working for me? They love me."

Unfortunately, a Gallup poll revealed that 65 percent of about 650 Hispanics view him unfavorably with a net favorable score of -51.

This, however, does not mean that every Latino-American hates Donald Trump.

In fact, a naturalized immigrant called "Elizabeth" told the New Jersey outlet that while she was indeed upset after hearing Trump's comments, she realized that she liked the man.

"He upsets me at the beginning. But then, when I pay attention, I say, 'He's right. He's not against Mexicans - he's against illegal immigration.' Why do I like him? I came here. I did everything right to become a resident. It took me 10 years," she explained.
