Microsoft was only willing to say that the successor of the Xbox 360, the Xbox One, will be released during the holiday season, Design Trend's initial reports indicate. Speculations abound as to when precisely during the holiday will the controversial video game console be released, but according to VGChartz's own Xbox One Wiki it will be on November 2013.

This Thursday the International Digital Times reported that an online retailer released a November 21 release date for the anticipated console. Bol.com, an online retailer from the Netherlands, currently lists the 500GB Limited Day One edition of the Xbox One for a "21.11.2013" release date in its webpage. According to the IDT report, the Xbox One will launch in 21 different markets in November; and if the Bol.com release date is correct, then 11/21 would probably be the European release date.

However, the report goes on to state that the 21 other markets might get a release sooner or later than November 21. It notes that since the site lists a November 13 release date for the Sony Playstation 4, Microsoft might not want to give Sony too much of a head start in its U.S. launch, thus a possible earlier release of the Xbox One.

Microsoft is already facing massive criticism and controversy regarding its DRM and always online policies which it recently reversed entirely, in what Time is calling "precisely the right move". Design & Trend reports that Microsoft was only "testing to see" the people's reaction to their policies.

Time Tech also welcomes the Xbox One "back in the game," saying that now gamers are back to having more choices of consoles. Design & Trend goes on to say that Sony seemed to have gained more ground with gamers not only because of Microsoft's policies but also because it's $100 less costly.

The Xbox One ships with a next generation Kinect along with a standard Xbox One controller according to VGChartz's wiki. It also boasts a lineup of 15 new titles, eight of which are new IPs.

The games that are confirmed to come to the Xbox One's console include:

  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Battlefield 4
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • Wolfenstein: The New Order
  • Need for Speed Rivals
