Rumors reveal a possible "Avengers" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" team up, and Jeremy Renner is speculated to have confirmed it.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, more popularly known as the MCU, is nearing its climax as the release of the "Avengers: Infinity War" nears.

That being said, an awesome rumor involving the two mightiest superhero teams ever known is spreading like wildfire.

According to Cinema Blend, speculations about a possible crossover or "team-up" between the Avengers and the Guardians may be coming, specially that they are linked by a single, ever-so-powerful villain: Thanos.

The report cited the implications of the appearance of Thanos, the wielder of the Infinity Gauntlet, in the James Gunn film about Star-Lord's team, as well as in the upcoming two-parter "Infinity Wars" starring the Avengers.

Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the Avengers, may have already confirmed this though his comments seemed to imply a catch.

According to the actor, the studio may have plans of joining the two teams together "but not right away."

"Renner seemed to indicate that there were no plans to include the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' in 'Avengers: Infinity War,' saying that he assumed Marvel planned to give the Guardians another movie of their own, 'and then we've got 'Infinity War I and II,'" Comic Book speculated, citing the actor's statement during the Wizard World Chicago panel over the weekend.

"You'll be eighty years old by then, and I won't be Hawkeye anymore. I'll be Dead Guy," Renner joked, referring to the possibility that by the time any crossover occurs, his character may already have been slaughtered.

Despite this, the outlet is quick at providing a disclaimer, saying that Renner has yet to be briefed into the real deal about the studio's plans for the MCU, citing that even if he was, plans can still change.

About eight months ago, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" director have indirectly told giddy, speculating fans to quit expecting a crossover.

"We really are separate from the Avengers, and I don't think people should assume too many things about the Guardians play in all this, because we have our own galaxy to take care of. We have our own galaxy to save. Earth is the Avengers' province. Thinking that everything is going to come together in a perfect way is not necessarily the way it's going to happen," Gunn told Screen Junkies.

Whatever the real deal is, all these are still unofficial and, as always, should be taken with a grain (or more) of salt.

In the meantime, what do you expect to see in the first part of "Avengers: Infinity War"? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
