Jeremy Lin will miss his second-straight game due to back spasms and Houston Rockets head coach Kevin McHale revealed that the fourth-year point guard will see a specialist, reports Ultimate Rockets.
Lin, who was also sidelined for six games due to a knee injury before returning on Thursday, missed their game against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday due to his ailing back, which could be more serious than what was initially anticipated.
After missing six games due to his ailing knee, Lin was clearly groping for form on Thursday. He scored just five points against the Portland Trail Blazers in a struggling game, which was followed up by an eight-point performance against the Golden State Warriors on Friday -- productions much lower than his 14.3-point average this season.
Teammate Chandler Parsons, who has been dealing with back spasms in the past few weeks, knows how tough Lin's situation is. The versatile forward believes that Lin is aching to play again, but Parsons said that Lin should approach the situation cautiously.
"I know his back has been bothering him and I know exactly what he is going through because I went through that for a couple of weeks and it is tough and painful and it's frustrating, especially because I know how competitive he is and how much he means to our team and I know he wants to be out here, but he has to be smart and he will be back as soon as he can," Parsons said.
The Rockets, who are viewed as one of the top title contenders in the Western Conference, have been slowed down by injuries this season. Aside from Parsons and Lin, All-Star guard James Harden also hurt his ankle on Sunday, but he is expected to play against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.
"It's not good but every team has to go through it. It's not like we can make an excuse because every other team in the league has gone through it and it is such a long grinding season - there are going to be injuries, people aren't going to be 100 percent, people are going to be sick. We have a great training staff. We, as adults, have to be responsible and take good care of ourselves and do all the proper treatments," Parsons said when asked about the injuries that have plagued the Rockets this season.
