"The Walking Dead" prequel threatens to shake your weekend as "Fear the Walking Dead" showrunner Dave Erickson tells TWD fans what to expect from the first season of the spinoff.
In an interview with Yahoo TV, Erickson describes how it feels now that the new TV series has received positive feedbacks after critics were able to preview a couple of episodes.
"I only read the good reviews, so I'm not sure what most people are saying, but it's interesting... it's exciting. I think the fans, at least from my understanding and my experience when we went to San Diego for Comic-Con, there is an anticipation," he explained.
During the talk, Erickson also revealed a couple of highlights of the show including how the series would be able to explain how the government deals with the zombie apocalypse, something which had never been shown in "The Walking Dead."
"We never tell the story from the perspective of the CDC or the generals or the politicians. It's not going to be World War Z, but we will see a military presence," he declared.
So what can fans actually expect from the unfolding of events? "We wanted to present the outbreak in a way that felt credible," Erickson said.
The Verge revealed that the show will not be a narrative that tells the story of another set of zombie apocalypse survivors, but rather, an account on how, when and where it all began.
With its colorful and uniquely interesting characters composed of an extended family, "Fear the Walking Dead" begins with high school guidance counselor Madison played by "Gone Girl" star Kim Dickens, who struggles with her son's (Nick) drug addiction.
Nick, played by Frank Dillane, would then witness a horrifying scene where one of his friends eats off another person's face, leaving him tearing through the city and raving to the cops about the incident.
According to Variety, a three-minute preview footage released by AMC shows Nick running from something along the back alleys of Los Angeles, a scene that seemingly precedes the spinoff's teaser released in June.

Variety further revealed that the show will be available to subscribers of Amazon Prime located in Austria and Germany beginning August 24, while users in the U.K. will be able to experience the "Fear" next year.
Countries not mentioned above will be able to watch the TV series simultaneously with the U.S. via AMC global channels all over the globe.
