So it seems that HTC One is forgoing the M10, working instead on an entirely different, redesigned flagship that is said to be codenamed Aero and supposed to be out by the end of 2015.

The rmored new flagship phonr may be delayed until 2016 due to the release of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.

The company already announced the Snapdragon 820 is to be released by early 2016, so it makes sense that HTC can only begin production of their next flagship phone when Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon has already been released.

Android Headlines reported that the next HTC device will deviate from its M flagship naming and will go on as HTC O2.

Few details have been released about the rumored O2, but here are some things that we do know about it:

It is said to come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820, with a quad-core processor, which is made under Samsung's 14nm FinFET architecture.

The upcoming SoC will be running on the company's own Hydra Cores, and not the usual Cortex-72 core.

It is also said to sport a groundbreaking camera, which, according to Phone Arena translates to a 20.7MP rear, and a 5MP front snapper for selfies and video chats.

The phone will also sport a 3500mAh battery, which is made for a longer-lasting phone life.

The device is said to have BoomSound front-facing stereo speakers, a decision that should excite many of its fans.

Finally, the device is said to have IP certification for its protection against dust and water.

When it comes to design, it is said that the O2 will not deviate too much from the HTC One series.

However, the O2 is said to have narrow and thin side bezels on the front panel and a 5-inch version is said to be launched with a 2K or 4K resolution.

HTC O2 should be announced during the MWC 2016, the venue of which is yet to be released.

That is all that is known regarding the HTC O2 for now, however, as can be expected from all unannounced smart phones, leaks should come trickling in soon.

Previous reports of the HTC Flagship (back when it was still rumored to be the M10), include a reveal in October.

However, with the Snapdragon still unavailable, it makes sense for the O2 to come in next year instead.

As Pocket Lint noted, this will deviate from its schedule of flagship handsets being announced around the time of IFA, which usually kicks off in September.

What do you think about HTC's new flagship phone so far?
