A legal Latino immigrant has voiced his disapproval for illegal aliens in the United States.

Francisco Rivera, who was originally from Jalisco, Mexico, told Breitbart News that immigrants who have broken the laws of the U.S. should not be given special treatment. Rivera and two other residents protested at the Huntington Park City Council in Los Angeles on Monday over the appointment of two illegal aliens to city commissions.

The two illegal aliens in question, 21-year-old Julian Zatarain and 29-year-old Francisco Medina, were appointed in positions at the Huntington Park parks and recreation commission and health and education commission, respectively, a separate report from Breitbart News noted.

"I don't have anything against immigrants. But there's a difference between 'immigrant' and 'illegal immigrant.' And I ask myself: what part of 'illegal' don't you guys understand?" Rivera remarked, as quoted by the news outlet.

He further explained, "If I'm hungry and if I'm starving and if I break into somebody's house illegally, I'm going to go to jail. But if I go and knock on somebody's door and say, 'Ma'am, I'm really hungry, could you please do me a favor, could you please make me a sandwich?' That's the proper way, to ask for something. You shouldn't get rewarded by breaking a law."

Rivera has been a U.S. resident for 35 years and has volunteered in the city cleaning up graffiti, Breitbart News noted. He insisted that not every immigrant in the U.S. is illegal. Others, like him, went through all the proper channels and background check.

"I really appreciate this country and this great nation," he said in a separate interview with the news outlet. "People don't have passion and love for this country, but when they are about to be deported they say, 'Please don't deport me!' They only want to be a part of this nation when they're threatened with being deported."

Rivera also said that he, along with a lot of legal immigrants, don't approve of immigration reform, Breitbart News reported. He added that he obeys the laws and rules in the U.S., and people who break it should pay the consequences.

Immigration reform is one of the debates currently taking center stage at the U.S. 2016 presidential race. Republican hopeful Donald Trump advocates scrapping birthright citizenship policy granted to the U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants, which has been in effect since the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution in 1868, Fox News reported.

Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, opposes Trump's drastic anti-immigrant platforms. The Democrat presidential candidate defends and supports U.S. President Barack Obama's executive orders on immigration, Politics USA wrote.
