Morgan Freeman's Granddaughter Stabbed to Death in New York

Morgan Freeman, the one who played 'God' in 'Bruce Almihgty' and 'Evan Almighty,' could not save his granddaughter from her fate.
Edena Hines, 33, was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning in New York and was found lying in the street in front of her apartment when the police responded to a 911 call at about 3AM.
She was found with multiple stab woulds to the chest, and was then pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital later on.
Freeman, mourning his granddaughter, said in a statement issued to USA Today through his representative Stan Rosenfield, "The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace."
He also posted on his own Facebook page his heartfelt thanks to those who supported him and his family in this sad time.
"I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. -M"
According to the New York Daily News, a witness said that Hines was stabbed to death by her own deranged boyfriend, as he yelled, "Get out, devils!"
The man who saw the attack, 65-year-old George Hudacko, called 911 to report the incident he witnessed from his third-floor apartment.
He explained, "I watched someone get murdered, and there was nothing I could do."
A 26-year-old woman, Jovita Bedolla, also saw the murder happening through her bathroom window, and Hines was reportedly topless as the scene went on.
Police said that the attacker uttered Bible verses as he plunged the knife into Hines.
Another witness, who also saw the attack from his bathroom window said, "He was totally off the wrench. He had totally snapped. It was just really scary."
Thirty-year-old Lamar Davenport has been taken into custody for the murder Morgan Freeman's granddaughter, and the murder weapon was recovered at the scene.
However as of Sunday evening, the suspect has not been formally charged yet and was undergoing a mental evaluation at the New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia.
According to her personal website, Hines, who studied acting at New York University also taught youth in need of help in Memphis.
She was an aspiring actress who was just beginning to turn her dream into reality.
She wrote on a blog post dated July 7, "My dream has come true and it's just beginning. Life can make you want to give up or walk away, sometimes it gives you the strength to appreciate when you do get your happy ending."
