Information about Intel's brand-new Skylake chips, which are said to be utilized in Apple's next MacBook Air, has surfaced.
Fanless Tech said that the Skylake-U lineup is "streamlined and is easier to understand" than the Broadwell-U array.
The news outlet provided screenshots of the Skylake-U processor line. Check it out on their site.
According to Mac Rumors, the 2.3GHz i5-6200U and the 2.4GHz i5-6300U chips are more suitable for the lower-end MacBook Air variants, while the 2.5GHz i7-6500U and the 2.6GHz i7-6600U are appropriate for use in the higher-end MacBook Air models. All of these four chips come with Intel HD 520 graphics.
The chips are expected to supply a 10 or 20 percent boost in CPU performance, as well as lower power consumption and enhanced Intel HD integrated graphics performance. A 30% longer battery life is one of the benefits of improved energy efficiency, the news outlet added.
It's still unconfirmed when Intel plans to offer the latest Skylake chips for the new MacBook Air, Mac Rumors wrote. The information also indicated that the 28-watt chips apt for the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro will not roll out until 2016.
"Launch dates are equally unclear for the rest of the Skylake lineup, as today's leak only covers chips that would be used in the MacBook Air," the news outlet explained.
MacBook Air 2016 Specs
The MacBook Air 2016 is said to be equipped with OS X El Capitan, Force Touch technology, Type-C USB port, and 11-inch and 13-inch variants, Yibada reported. A redesigned keyboard will likely be included as well, Ecumenical News noted.
Bidness ETC added that the upcoming MacBook Air will boast of a sleeker and thinner design compared to its predecessors.
Citing Fool.com, Venture Capital Post reported that the laptop will have a resolution greater than 1440 x 900 for the 13-inch version, and more than 1366 x 768 for the 11-inch variant. These resolutions are perfect for the laptop's rumored IPS display.
Release Date & Price
Geek Snack reported that the MacBook Air 2016 was originally expected to be launched in March next year. But there are also rumors that Apple is rushing production for an Oct. 2015 launch date, with the laptop hitting stores in November just in time for the holiday season shopping.
The new MacBook Air is said to have a price tag of $899 when it rolls out in the market, making it the cheapest MacBook Air from Apple, Bidness ETC claimed.
These are all unconfirmed by Apple at the moment and the tech giant is yet to issue an official announcement.
