Apple Inc.'s plans to develop a bigger tablet have been making the headlines again as two variants may be scheduled for 2014.

According to new reports, the Cupertino-based company may be working on producing two tablets bigger than the current 9.7-inch iPad with the moniker "iPad Pro."

The first iPad Pro tablet, according to the International Business Times, may sport a 2K display for its 12.9-inch screen. The iPad Pro with the 2K display has been given a projected launch of April 2014.

The second variant of the iPad Pro tablet improves the screen's display to 4K technology. Whilst maintaining the 12.9-inch screen size, the second variant of the iPad Pro tablet may debut in October 2014, which has been the month of iPad debuts in the past as seen with the iPad Air in 2013 and original 7.9-inch iPad mini in 2012.

As Latino Post reported, production has been underway for the iPad Pro.

According to Korea Times, a local Apple supplier in Korea stated, "Apple's local first-tier display supplier is now producing a 12.9-inch Retina Display to be used in the new iPad, which will be coming out sometime next year."

The source stated Apple is "increasingly interested" in developing bigger iPads for U.S. customers due to the belief tablets will replace PCs over time.

"The 12.9-inch iPad will have improved picture quality," said the source. "As the Apple partner intends to boost its lineup for displays that have almost ultra high-definition (UHD) quality, the upcoming iPad will provide very clear quality similar to that of UHD."

Apple has not issued a comment regarding the latest rumors for the iPad.

Apple's latest tablets are the 9.7-inch iPad Air and 7.9-inch iPad mini with Retina Display, which launched across dozens of markets worldwide in November.
