The Sony Xperia Z5 Plus could be the first smartphone to pack the long-anticipated 4K display.

UberGizmo reported that this upcoming handset could be launched at the IFA this September, alongside the Sony Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z5 Compact.

A new leak of the device via XperiaBlog revealed that it may indeed sport a 4K screen. It was discussed in a 4K report that the rumored display is not impossible, specially that Sony is a "major innovator" in terms of 4K display technology.

"So if any major smartphone maker is likely to emerge with a 4K screen, Sony is a definite first rank contender," added 4K. This kind of screen resolution is expected to equate to a very high pixel density.

"If one looks closely, the profile data for the screen of the Z5 Plus clearly shows a listing for a screen resolution of 2160 x 3840," 4K mentioned.

Meanwhile, the XperiaBlog report also detailed that the Z5 Plus will almost have the same appearance as the Xperia Z3 Plus.

"The OmniBalance design is present along with three colours which are Black and Gold along with a new colour - Chrome," the outlet noted.

It also said that since the leaked photo was blurry and had low resolution, one cannot see other features of the device, though a suspected fingerprint scanner on the right side is speculated.

Design-wise, UberGizmo added that Sony is so far consistent with the look of its phone models.

The Z5 Plus is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 810 processor. Its screen size, however, is still being debated, Phone Arena said.

GSM Arena earlier noted that the phone could have 5.5-inch screen but it could also be bigger than this.

"Overheating concerns aside, we have certain doubts that Adreno 430 can drive a 4K display. To avoid confusion about labels 4K is 3,840 x 2,160px, the same as an UHD TV and over double the pixel count of a QHD display (4x a 1080p screen)," the outlet explained,

On the other hand, TBreak added that the Z5 Plus could have 4 GB of RAM and a 20.7 MP rear camera. The source noted that this device may not come cheap at all, considering the 4K display that it's rumored to possess.

The Z5 Plus' price has not been announced, but the public is expecting that it will not be cheap. Despite this, fans and Sony users are still looking forward, specially if it becomes the pioneer in mobile 4K display.
