The "Game of Thrones" fever continues to heat up as more spoilers and big reveals happen in HBO's epic drama based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling book series.
In a recent interview with the Observer, Martin seems to have given away the mood for the looming ending of the well-loved drama.
It seems the ending for the TV will be less brutal than blood-hungry fans are expecting, and would not be in the form of some "horrible apocalypse" as the interviewer described.
"I've said before that the tone of the ending that I'm going for is bittersweet," Martin told the Observer, emphasizing that "Lord of the Rings" author J.R.R. Tolkien has influenced him so much that he wants to end his novel the same way his idol did his.
"It ends with victory, but it's a bittersweet victory. Frodo is never whole again, and he goes away to the Undying Lands, and the other people live their lives," he explained.
Martin, Polygon explained, was referring to the second-to-last chapter of the third "Lord of the Rings" book, "Return of the King" where the once "idyllic and pastoral" Middle-Earth was ruled by a wizard Sharkey who formerly known as Saruman, leaving the protagonists of the story no choice but to win their home back.
"Every time I read it I understand the brilliance of that segment more and more. All I can say is that's the kind of tone I will be aiming for. Whether I achieve it or not, that will be up to people like you and my readers to judge," Martin added.
Meanwhile, cast member Maisie Williams seemingly revealed the unfortunate situation of her character, Arya Stark, being blinded by Jaqen H'ghar after her defiance against his orders.
Williams suggested that her character had indeed been blind, when she posted a photo of herself wearing cooling pads under her eyes in Instagram, captioned: "aftermath of blind contacts."
In June, the actress had already spoken about the downside of wearing blind contact lenses and what it would mean for her character.
"I don't know how that will impede [Arya's] life. She's going to become very vulnerable thanks to that. It's exciting and scary so I'm worried about next year," she told Entertainment Weekly.
In another side of the story, iDigital Times have some interesting spoilers about Jon Snow's fate, noting that it involves the mysterious promise Ned Stark made to his sister Lyanna when he found her dead in the Tower of Joy.
Apparently, Jon Snow's birth was timed perfectly into the same timeline Ned made this promise.
"Long story short, the theory claims Aerys' son Rhaegar and Lyanna fell in love, married and had Jon. The kingsguard were at the Tower of Joy with Lyanna because they were protecting Rhaegar's heir. Ned promised to protect Jon and raise her son as his own," the report noted, leading to the point that Jon Snow may actually be in line for the throne.
