With the near release of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, there are rumors that the device will return to basics.

It is rumoured to feature a QWERTY keyboard.

Independent said that the the upcoming instalment, which is expected to be announced during Samsung's Aug. 13 event, will reportedly come with an "optional keyboard" expected to make Blackberry users interested in the device.

In a tweet, the image of a new phone with a clip-on keyboard was shown.

Independent noted that this could simple be just part of the "abandoned mock-up concept images that phone manufacturers tend to create."

The optional device keyboard will reportedly be sold starting Aug. 22 for $66.

Phandroid added that the S6 Edge Plus may also come with a curved display and with improved performance compared to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

It said that users were "a bit saddened" since the S6 Edge had issues in running mini apps and getting updates.

The same report also noted that some features of the Edge may be incorporated in the new device but upgrades are also anticipated.

In discussing the other expected specifications of the Edge Plus, GizMag said that the phone will have almost the same features found in the Note 5 including a 64-bit octa-core Exynos processor, a 16 MP rear camera and 5 MP front shooter, wireless charging and 3 GB of RAM.

GSM Arena added that the newest in Samsung's Galaxy S series will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery and will run on Android's Lollipop 5.1.1 when it becomes available.

According to CNET, that S6 Edge Plus would feature a design similar to that of its predecessor, with the exception of tapered sides.

Meanwhile, Geeky Gadgets reported that the upcoming device will have 3 GB of RAM and have additional storage options of 64 GB and 128 GB.

Phone Arena said the bigger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge is rumored to cost around $880 for the 32GB variant.

This is still a more affordable and cheaper amount than the price tag of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge which is worth about $936, according to TechnoBuffalo.

"Then again, it's possible the company is looking to lower its prices across the board after reporting another disappointing quarter of sales this week," added the same report.

The said device is believed to be available starting Aug. 21, almost the same time as the Galaxy Note 5 which was reported to be limited to countries like Korea and the United States.

Aside from the exciting specifications of the device, fans may be more interested in the returning feature like the QWERTY keyboard which people have not seen for a long time in smartphones.
