During the WWE "SummerSlam" Tour in Victoria, British Columbia, Superstar Roman Reigns was attacked by a fan with a replica of the "Money in the Bank" briefcase at a live event held in the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Reigns was in a match against Bray Wyatt when the incident happened.
The former "Shield" member was struck at the back of his head. He appeared to be hurt and sat in the corner for a few minutes. WWE doctors and personnel tended to him while event security escorted the fan out of the building.
According to live reports via WrestleZone, not only security but the police were also called at ringside. Several other fans along with the perpetrator were ejected as a result of the incident. Roman Reigns has been hated by smart and older WWE fans, but this fan went a little too far.
Reigns ended up working a Street Fight against Wyatt in which he won according to a report by WhatCulture. Chairs, tables, kendo sticks and ring steps were used as weapons.
The crowd was really into the match regardless of what happened earlier. As tough as they come, Roman Reigns worked the next night against Wyatt once again in a report by BleacherReport.
These two men are currently in a feud. It started at the "Money in the Bank" event when Wyatt interfered in a match that Reigns was about to win.
The "Eater of Worlds" got the best of Reigns in their match at the Battleground PPV. They will face off in a tag team match at "SummerSlam" with Reigns teaming up with former "Shield" brother, Dean Ambrose to take on Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper of the "Wyatt Family."
Victoria police spokesman Sgt. Bryan Edwards told CTV News, that 31 year-old male fan sneaked a "Money in the Bank" briefcase replica into the arena. He said that other fans saw the briefcase and began chanting at the fan to throw the briefcase into the ring.
The fan obliged, tossing the briefcase into the ring, hitting Reigns in the back of the head. No charges were made after the fan apologized. He has been permanently banned from all WWE shows.
This incident was not the first time a fan attacked a WWE superstar. Back in July 2013, a fan attacked Randy Orton during the WWE live event in Cape Town, South Africa. That fan was arrested, was asked to apologize and was banned from WWE shows.
