In the discussion of sex vs violence, is one really better than the other?
Miley Cyrus seems to think that there is a double standard between her "wild" reputation and Taylor Swift's "American Sweetheart" label.
In an interview with Marie Claire for the September 2015 issue, Miley was pretty harsh about Taylor's popular "Bad Blood" video, which shows the blonde crooner and her friends dressed to kill in sexy leather-clad outfits.
Miley said about the video, "I don't get the violence revenge thing. That's supposed to be a good example?" said the 22-year-old, who, according to E! News has both been celebrated and criticized for her sexy looks and provocative antics.
"I'm a bad role model because I'm running around with my t-tties out? I'm not sure how t-tties are worse than guns."
She also complained about the music industry as a whole, saying, "There is so much sexism, ageism, you name it. Kendrick Lamar sings about LSD and he's cool. I do it and I'm a druggie whore."
While Taylor and her reps haven't officially commented yet, a source close to her told Hollywood Life, "Saying things like this is so typical of Miley. She is desperate for attention and will do anything to get it. It must kill Miley that Taylor has gotten so much attention for 'Bad Blood'. "
The source added, "In Taylor's mind, Miley is just being jealous."
The Washington Post offered some insights as to why Miley does more taboo than Taylor. Said the outlet, it's not that she represents sex that makes Miley sort of a Hollywood problem - it's that her representation of it is more brash and untamed.
Taylor's depiction, on the other hand still comes off as wholesome and romantic. Safer, so to speak, despite the presence of tiny leather costumes.
Despite her image, The New York Daily News said that Miley is adamant about not letting the media get to her.
She's not bothered anymore about living her life in the spotlight, as she addressed in Marie Claire. She said, "I don't really stress too much about being out there. There's nothing left to catch me doing."
Not even nudes can put her off. She added, "You want to hack my email so you can find my nude pictures? I'll just f----ing put them up."
What do you think about Miley's diss?
