Marijuana is slowly falling into our country’s good graces. In certain states, you can now purchase it with an authorized medical card at weed dispensaries. It’s decriminalized in 16 states. On January 1st, Colorado will be the first state to legalize its use. Although marijuana is more widely accepted every day, there are still a handful of taboos associated with its use that you should avoid at all cost. The most obvious - Do not get your infant child stoned.

Jessica Kelsey of Maryville, New York, her young husband and her father are all accused of helping their 23-month-old boy smoke marijuana, WIVB reports. Officials say the 17-year-old mother was at a party on Dec. 5 with her father, 54-year-old Don Baker, where marijuana was being smoked. They lit a bowl and helped the toddler smoke while Jessica’s husband, 18-year-old George Kelsey, watched.

After the party, a tip regarding the incident was reported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies investigated the tip along with the country’s District Attorney’s Office and Child Protective Services. They arrested all three of the participants at their home last Friday on Erie Street in Mayville, charging them with second degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.

Following their arraignment, they were taken to the Chautauqua County Jail, each with bail set at $10,000.

Marijuana will soon be sold countrywide, legally. But it’s incidents like these that slow down its march to legality. It’s not marijuana’s fault, it’s the parents faults. That’s what happens when children have children.
