Bobby Cannavale will star as record label president Richie Finestra trying to save his company in HBO's new drama, "Vinyl."
In a more in-depth plot description, The Guardian reported that the drama revolves not only on Finestra's business, but also around a life-changing decision that puts a strain on his relationship with model wife Devon (Olivia Wilde) and business partner, Zak Yankovic (Ray Romano).
Set in the 1970s, E! News reported that the 10-episode series just dropped its first one-minute teaser that offered a guitar-smashing, champagne-popping, rock and roll kind of vibe.
Along with Cannavale, the series stars Olivia Wilde, Ray Romano, Juno Temple, Jack Quaid, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Ato Essandoh, Max Casella, P.J. Byrne, James Jagger, and Paul Ben-Victor.
Behind the camera are even bigger names - Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger are executive producers, along with Rick Yorn, Victoria Pearman, John Melfi, Allen Coulter, and Emma Tillinger Koskoff.
Terrence Winter acts as showrunner and executive producer.
The rock drama was discussed last week at the Television Critics Association summer tour, said Variety.
HBO President Michael Lombardo already spoke of the influences that made the show possible.
The Rolling Stones, in particular, will have an impact on the show, especially since Mick Jagger's son, James is playing the role of a lead singer from an early punk rock band.
Lombardo said, "(Rolling) Stones music will be in the series but not with any more frequency than any other music of the period. Mick's son is one of our series' regulars. James is playing a young musician who looks not unlike his father. But the band has nothing to do with the Rolling Stones. Very different period. Very different trajectory."
Perez Hilton reported that the series was actually from a film idea that Jagger had back in 2010 - about two friends living through four decades in the music business.
The series is set to premiere next year. However, The Guardian reported that Scorsese hasn't been subtle in his lookout for filming locations.
He just transformed Brooklyn's Rough Trade record shop into a 1970s Sam Goody storefront earlier this year, with some blocks north of 9th street, between Wythe and Kent already decorated with vintage cars, old phone booths, and even a news stand.
This is not the first project that put Scorsese and Jagger together. The Rolling Stones frontman previously worked with the acclaimed director on "Shine a Light", a documentary about the Stones' 2006 Beacon Theatre performance for their "A Bigger Bang" tour.
