Recent leaks of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5 reveal that the device will look like a bigger version of the Galaxy S6 -- topped with a stylus.
In terms of screen, Engadget reported that the Galaxy Note 5 may have a 5.7-inch display, a mix of metal and glass body and a spring-loaded S Pen.
"Check out that curved back -- this may be easier to hold than the S6 despite its larger frame," the outlet added, noting that Samsung changed the S Pen software of it to fit into the S6 aesthetic.
Despite this great design feature, it is believed that upsizing the device could mean missing the microSD card slot. On the brighter side, a larger device usually translates to a bigger battery, though we have to wait for confirmation.
"The Note 5 is shaping to be what earlier Galaxy Note [models] have been: a logical extension of that year's Galaxy S design, for better or for worse," Engadget wrote.
Meanwhile, Droid Life said the phone differs from the S6 on the back since it resembles the curve of an Edge. Other features expected to come with the phone is a single speaker at its bottom and a headphone jack.
As for its internal aspects, the Note 5 is believed to come with 4 GB of RAM and storage variants of 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.
Droid Life added that the upcoming device may also have a new menu for Air Command, which could come with options for Smart select, Action memo, Screen write, S Note, Instagram and Settings.
Other notable specifications of the device are stated below as per Phandroid:
- Exynos 7420 SoC (4×2.1GHz+4×1.5GHz)
- 5.66-inch 2560×1440 display
- 16 MP rear-facing camera
- 5 MP front-facing camera
- Android 5.1.1 Lollipop support
Expected to arrive by mid-August, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is set to go against the upcoming Apple releases, most specially the iPhone 6S Plus scheduled to come out by September this year.
As cited by the Business Insider, Samsung has been releasing phones with big screens since 2011. Users would know that Cupertino rival Apple set its foot in the game with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus in 2014.
A similar Forbes report noted that an earlier release for Samsung would avoid it having to compete with Apple for attention. It added that the launch of the Galaxy Note 5 will happen in a major city in the United States though it failed to disclose what place it will be.
The Galaxy Note 5, rumored to cost around $1000, is also believed to come with a volcano-shaped camera unit at the back like that of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
Samsung is believed to release the device this Aug. 13 in a New York City event.
