It's not a good mix for former One Direction hunk Zayn Malik and Little Mix member Perrie Edwards.

According to People Magazine, the 22-year-olds called it quits, leaving Edwards "devastated."

A source said that Malik contacted his fiance two weeks ago to tell her that it's over.

"She's been putting on a brave face, as Little Mix have had promotion to do, but she's obviously devastated," the source said.

When asked by E! News last Tuesday about how she's been doing, she responded simply, "I'm good, thank you."

The couple got engaged in 2013 after they dated for over a year. The have been through ups and downs together, with Malik having to shot down rumors of cheating on Edwards earlier this year.

Edwards even stood by Malik when he decided to quit One Direction last March despite the alleged cheating.

Us Weekly reported that even though it was Malik who finally cut the chord, an insider shared that he "was lucky to hold on to Perrie for as long as he did."

The source continued, "She's so lovely and she put up with so much. Her close friends are totally relieved it's over so now she can move on."

Malik and Edwards are both in Los Angeles. He is working on a new record deal with RCA, while she has been promoting her group's single, "Black Magic".

However, a source for People said that despite being in the same city, they haven't seen each other in weeks.

One Direction fans are usually very vocal about their thoughts regarding the band, and even though Zayn quit a few months ago, it seems that it did not stop them from reacting on social media.

While many were sad about the break-up, Hollywood Life said that others were just confused, especially about the Perrie tattoo that Malik had on his arm.

The outlet said that a few months before he proposed to the Little Mix songstress, Malik declared his love and devotion to her by tattooing a comic-like version of her on his arm.

The artist who did the work, John James Garacheski III was then asked about the meaning of the image, which he explained was based off of Malik's girlfriend.
