"Game of Thrones" is doing another recast!
In a report by Entertainment Weekly, another veteran actor will be joining the cast of the hit HBO series.
Max von Sydow, whose previous projects include "The Exorcist" and "Minority Report" is joining the series as the Three-Eyed Raven, a role which may not always be seen, but is always discussed due to its importance.
The Three-Eyed Raven, previously portrayed by actor Struan Rodger, is Bran Stark's (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) mysterious tutor who was first seen in the fourth season's finale.
The Hollywood Reporte said that Bran's storyline was sidelined last season, but will be returning for season six.
Fans speculate that the story will pick up when the young Stark had been in the tutelage of the Three-Eyed Raven for a while.
This casting came just after news of "Deadwood" actor, Ian McShane's involvement in the series broke.
However, unlike von Sydow, McShane's role is still being kept under wraps. Due to their schedules, E! News reported that both McShane and von Sydow will have limited screen time for the next season, but their roles are both crucial in their own ways.
This is not the first time that "Game of Thrones" did recasts for significant roles.
Ser Gregor Clegane was recast for the second and fourth seasons. He was first portrayed by Conan Stevens in Season 1, Ian Whyte in Season 2, and finally, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson in Seasons 4 and 5. Myrcella Baratheon, who was originally portrayed by actress Aimee Richardson, was replaced by Nell Tiger Free in Season 5.
Unfortunately, as far as recasts and fan theories are concerned, a favorite character will definitely not be returning.
HBO's president of programming Michael Lombardo already made it clear that Jon Snow, whom fans hoped to make a return, is definitely dead as can be.
Lombardo said at the TCA press tour, "Dead is dead is dead is dead. He be dead."
On the other hand, another news may cheer up those who mourn Winterfell's bastard: Lombardo also revealed that the network is planning on extending the series past the seventh season. So there's hope for an eighth, at the very least.
"Game of Thrones" is currently in production, with von Sydow already on set. Following the show's release date over the years, Season 6 is expected to premiere next spring.
