There's some bad news for wrestling legend Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka

His wife claimed in a recent interview with Bill Apter that he is currently battling stomach cancer.

According to Bleacher Report, the WWE Hall of Famer had surgery to have part of his stomach and some of his lymph nodes removed.

"The doctors said he did very well. They're very happy with the outcome. He still has a long road ahead of him, and the doctor says he's an amazingly strong man. We all know how strong Jimmy is, and Jimmy can take a beating. ... He also wants to let his fans know that he's not done yet," his wife Carole Snuka was quoted by Bleacher Report as saying.

The 72-year-old retired wrestler was reportedly released from the hospital last July 31. Carole said that his doctors believed that all the cancer has already been taken out of his body.

A similar US Magazine report mentioned that Snuka's wife that though her "Superfly" is still struggling at the moment, he will eventually be fine.

"And he will be back and visiting with his fans as soon as he feels up and ready to go," she added.

On the same day that Snuka went home from the hospital, Roddy Piper died in his sleep. Piper and Snuka were wrestling brothers back in the days.

TMZ reported that Snuka had "an intense rivalry" with Piper inside the ring during the 1980s.

"Jimmy and I would just like to, first off, extend our heartfelt condolences to Roddy Piper's wife, Kitty, and their four children. It was very difficult for me to tell Jimmy about the passing of his wrestling brother," Carole added in the US Magazine report.

"But I did, and we cried together, and Jimmy reminisced about the many good times they had together...Jimmy just wants to say, 'I love you, brother, and you will always be in my heart.'"

It was not unknown to the public that Snuka has been battling various health issues in the past years. Bleacher Report said that fans even donated money to cover the $24,000 cost of his 2011 ankle surgery in a campaign pushed by by former WWE Diva Dawn Marie.

"At the time of the surgery, Snuka was having trouble so much as walking-largely due to damage suffered during his decades in the ring," added the same report.

He rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s and was known for his high-flying acrobatics, thus the name "Superfly."

His most famous stunt was a leap from a 15-foot cage in 1983 during a match versus Don Muraco.
