Microsoft is giving Apple a run for its money with the upcoming Surface Pro 4: a Windows 10 hybrid device that is rumored to be the company's smoking gun in the competition.

Venture Capital Post noted that each of the models of the Surface Pro platform revealed a significant improvement with every launch, which is reason enough to believe that the next flagship will be nothing short of exceptional.

With the Windows 10 OS recently launched, it is expected that the Surface Pro 4 will run with the latest. Yibada said that the Surface Pro series likely beat other tablets and computers because users are able to see the best tablet and computer combination. This has already been proven with the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 and 3 as both models competed well with Apple's iPad and MacBook Air products.

For its specs and features, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is expected to have the same screen size, bezel, and ultra-slim look as its predecessor, but with Intel's Skylake processor from Windows 10. That being said, the Surface Pro 4 should have a 2K screen and 2160 x 1440 pixels with a 12-inch design, although there are rumors that it could also come with a 14-inch display, following Apple's trend of increasing screen sizes.

VC Post also notes of the possibility for the Surface Pro 4 to run on an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor, with at least 16MB RAM, although this hasn't been confirmed.

Other rumors include a fanless tablet for Microsoft, which means that the Surface Pro 4 will feature holes on its casing for better heat dissipation, making it thinner and quieter than the previous model.

However, the most notable reason why the Surface Pro 4 may surpas iPads and MacBooks is the expectation that the device will be available at the same price as the previous models, which is far less than the cost of Apple products in the market.

IT Pro UK noted that the laptop and tablet hybrid will be launched by October to retail markets. If this is correct, then the Surface Pro 4 will coincide with the release of Apple's latest gadgets, including the iPad Pro. Other rumors, however, mentioned that the Surface Pro 4 will only be unveiled in October, and will be released the following month.

As always, until the company makes their official announcement, these rumors are best to be taken with a grain of salt.
