In her decision to finally follow her heart and be the person that she is, Caitlyn Jenner vowed to help transgender teens everywhere and inspire people to accept themselves for who they really are.
While her intentions may be noble, not everyone thinks that she understands the situation well. In fact, in a recent "I Am Cait" teaser video, her friends became "worried" that Caitlyn may encounter problems in the long run.
In a sneak peek for the August 2 episode on E!, Caitlyn's friends aired their concern towards her conservative views. One of them believes Caitlyn is living in a "bubble" - an "impediment" to being a role model in the community.
In the video, Caitlyn and her friends talked about what other transgender men and women go through and the challenges they face for being unemployed or homeless. They also discussed the social programs that are available to them so they could seek help.
Jen Richards tells the group, "I think if I was to focus on one area it would be entry level jobs so that these girls have some alternative if they wanted."
But Caitlyn has a different view that didn't sit well to some of her friends. She said, "Don't a lot of times they can make more not working with social programs than they actually can with an entry level job, but you don't want people to get totally dependent on it. That's when they get in trouble. 'Why should I work?'"
LGBT activist Jenny Boylan and the rest of the circle looked uncomfortable with Caitlyn's statement. Boylan said, "Caitlyn has every right to be just as conservative as she chooses, but many transgender men and women need social programs to survive, and that's nothing to be ashamed of."
Her responsibility in the LGBTQ community has always been one of the things that concerned Caitlyn. Just recently, The Daily Mail reported that a new E! Trailer has been released with Cait voicing out her concerns at 4 a.m. She was featured make up free while sitting on her bed.
Jenner said, "I feel bad that people, especially young people, are going through this difficult time in their life. We don't want people dying over this, we don't want people murdered over this stuff. What a responsibility I have towards this community."
She added, "Am I going to do everything right? Am I going to say the right things? Am I going to project the right image? My mind is just spinning with thoughts. I just hope I get it right."
Her transgender friends didn't seem to think so, but we hope for the transgender teens out there that she does. Do you think Caitlyn will be a good role model?
