After losing to undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. last May, Manny Pacquiao could fight again before the year ends as he await to fully recover from his shoulder injury.

Local Philippine newspaper Philippine Star said that Top Rank CEO and Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum said that the boxer is recovering fast from his injury.

"He sent us a video and the therapists are stunned at his progress," Arum said noting that he was surprised with Pacquiao's progress.

It was earlier reported that the Filipino champion will take the rest of the year off to recover from his rotator cuff tear and come back stronger by 2016.

But Arum expressed confidence that he will be back "at the end of the year."

Asked who will be Pacquiao's foe for his next fight, Arum said in the Philippine Star report that there is a possibility that it will be WBO junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

Aside from his title belt, Crawford is also reportedly the former WBO lightweight titleholder. He has a clean record of 26-0, 18 of which are knockout victories.

"That (Pacquiao-Crawford bout) would be a tremendous, tremendous fight," he added.

According to online news agency Rappler, Crawford was one of the target opponents of Pacquiao's camp along with Lucas Matthysse and Kell Brook.

The site also noted that since they are not sure if Mayweather will agree to a rematch, Pacquiao is still preparing for a couple of fights before he ends his career.

"I think that's what we're looking for, (to beat someone conclusively), so it's going to have to be a tough opponent," Arum noted in the Rappler report.

Since talks of the fight have been circling, Crawford has also been open to fighting Pacquiao.

BoxingScene said that the fellow Top Rank fighter is optimistic about the possibility of facing the Filipino champ.

"As far as Pacquiao,if that fight happens, it happens," Crawford added.

The fight is rumored to take place in Macau, China, where Pacquiao fought twice already since 2013.

Meanwhile, English boxer Amir Khan also expressed his intention to fight Pacquiao after failing to seal one with Mayweather, as per Cleveland.com.

"Since Floyd is running scared, I want Pacquiao in 2016 when he is back from his injury," Khan added in the same report.

Khan had been very vocal about his goal to battle it out with Mayweather inside the ring but he seemed neglected by the American fighter's camp.

As for Pacquiao, Cleveland.com said Arum has also reached out to Khan's camp to discuss a possible fight between the two boxers.
