Former child actor Harry Melling, who played Dudley Dursley in the "Harry Potter" franchise, has made it to entertainment news headlines after growing up looking very different.
Remember Harry Potter's spoiled brat of a cousin Dudley Dursley? Here is a quick trip down memory lane.
After seeing how he looked like back in the day, you would probably take a second look at Melling's photos now.
The now-26-year-old Harry Melling had undergone a Neville Longbottom-ish transformation from being the awkward chubby child actor into a respectable playwright.
According to Metro UK, the former "Harry Potter" actor had taken a different path than that of his co-stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. He is now lying low from the spotlight and focusing more on the behind-the-scenes action.
On Thursday, the outlet published an article on Melling noting how he "shied away from blockbuster" and started his own journey in the writing industry.
He wrote his own play, "Peddling," which depicted how homelessness can be like in London.
A similar-yet-different situation happened to his fellow former awkward child actor Matthew Lewis who became known for his Harry Potter role "Neville Longbottom."
Lewis is now raking magazine covers and taking Hollywood by storm with his role as a triathlete in the movie "Me Before You," Hollywood Take reported in May.
Since he is not taking his shot on the spotlight, some are wondering how Melling felt after seeing his former co-stars become big names in Hollywood.
"I'm very happy they're doing what they're doing but I wouldn't compare myself to them. I don't feel jealousy or anything like that really, because they're just different situations. I'm not one of 'the three' [the trio of young actors who played the main characters], so I'm not going to be in that position, but equally, that allows me to get on the Tube," he told the Economist during a Q&A session.
According to the Economist, Melling had spent the last couple of years appearing in stage plays, including one shown at the National Theatre entitled "Mother Courage and Her Children" where he reunited with Fiona Shaw, his onscreen mother.
That and an encounter with sales boy who 'lost it' after Melling's family turned down what he was selling when Melling was eight years old sparked his interest in writing his very first stage play.
"I didn't really have any intention to write. But I met this boy when I was eight years old, and he stuck with me, and I've had a desire since I was about 16 to re-meet him," he explained.
He further explained that after more than four years of thought, edits and rewrites, he finally finished his first stage play.
