When Ben Affleck was revealed to be the next caped crusader, most comic book fans thought he was too old.
Apparently, Affleck thought along the same lines.
In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, the "Gone Girl" actor shared about his decision to play the part.
He said, "Initially I thought, 'I'm older, it doesn't seem like the right sort of fit for me.' Then Zack [Snyder] pitched me his concept for this older, more broken, kind of f**ked up Batman. It was something we haven't seen."
Snyder also confirmed that Affleck's Batman will be around 45 or 46 years old.
He said of the new Dark Knight, "He has been Batman for 20 years. All the history is there. Was there a Robin at one time? Possibly. We want to assume that Batman has reached this point in his life and career as a superhero, and Superman represents a sort of philosophical change."
This change also confirms Batman's importance in "Suicide Squad". Comic Book said that in the 20 years that Batman saved Gotham, he's already met The Joker (Jared Leto) and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), as well as the rest of the squad.
This also explains why he was seen in the "Suicide Squad"trailer.
Interestingly, Batman will come across as a villain to Henry Cavill's Superman in "Dawn of Justice", but ultimately, it will depend on the audience's views and personal opinions on who will be the true "hero" in the film.
Snyder said, "It's a point of view thing. That is why Dawn of Justice is the full title. What it does is allow us to start this conversation."
This leaves another superhero in question. "Game of Thrones" actor Jason Momoa was already confirmed to appear in "BvS" prior to his standalone "Aquaman" film and "Justice League".
But if you think you're going to see Khal Drogo in action, think again. Coming Soon confirmed that there is not much to see of Momoa's character save for an "elusive cameo".
As for another mystery role, Bailey Chase, who has been credited in BvS still hasn't confirmed who he's playing, although he told Slash Film, "I'm not a superhero but I've got a nice, cool role that opens the movie. I get to do quite a bit with Amy Adams and I can't wait to see it."
Neither can we.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
