With the release of the Moto G 2015 3rd Generation on Tuesday, users and fans are curious how the new phone will fair when compared to its predecessor.

Phone Arena said that with its new release, Motorola has maintained to keep the balance between value and performance especially with previous successful releases.

Here is a comparison of the Moto G 2015 3rd Generation and the previous release Moto G 2014.

Design

Phone Arena reported that there is a slight change in the design of the phone but it still followed the usual design of the series.

"Notable differences to its design include the metal trim bezel and the rearrangement of the camera's section," it said.

The website added that the Moto G 2015 3rd Generation comes with a Moto Maker which enabled users to customize their handsets.

The phone also comes with an IPX7 certification, which means it is water resistant.

Meanwhile, the Moto G 2014 was also water resistant and came in black and white base colors. The Motorola website said that users also had the choice of changing phone shells and flip shells.

Platform

According to Android Central, the new Motorola phone runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop using a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quadcore processor. It will come in 1GB and 2GB RAM variants.

GSM Arena said that the 2014 model runs on Android OS, v4.4.4 (KitKat) and had a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset.

Display

Phone Arena said that Motorola's latest flaghsip phone has a 5-inch 720 x 1280 display, which is already great for basic use.

"There's good vibrancy when it's jacked up to its brightest setting, but distortion is visible at wide angles - causing colors to come out washed out," it said.

The Moto G 2014 was previously released with the same display as the new phone.

Camera

The new addition to the Motorola market has a 13 MP rear camera which has the capability to shoot 1080P videos at 30fps and a 5MP front shooter for clear selfies and video calling.

TThe previous release only had an 8MP main camera and a 2MP front-facing shooter, according to the Motorola website.

Price

The 2015 phone model is reportedly available on the market for $180 for the 8GB variant, while the 16GB model is worth $220.

Considering the changes in the phone, the price is already reasonable compared to the $179.99 it cost to own a Moto G 2014.

Other features

Android Central said the Moto G 2015 will also have a 2470mAh battery which can support 24-hour usage.

It also has a microSD slot for additional storage.
