"Captain America: Winter Soldier" actor Sebastian Stan gives hints about his character's significance in the upcoming "Civil War," following a teasing end-credit scene in the recently released Marvel film "Ant-Man."
If you have yet to see Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man," then be warned that this report contains spoilers.
The post-credit scene in "Ant-man" showed Captain America and Falcon looking for Bucky, was who apparently was being held captive.
Bucky, who reprised his role in the second "Captain America" film as Steve Rogers' brainwashed wingman known as the "Winter Soldier," appeared trapped in a mysterious location.
In the scene, his metal arm was trapped and, for some unknown reason, so was he.
But the reason for his entrapment, according to Cinema Blend, may no longer be a mystery after Stan himself revealed some clues about it.
"I think [what Bucky was caught in was] more of a vise. But it would never happen at his own hand, by his own doing," the 32-year-old actor told BuzzFeed in an interview on Sunday.
Fans interpreted that scene in different ways, with some even speculating that it was Captain America who put him there.
Cinema Blend dismissed the theory by speculating that one of two Captain America villains was responsible for putting Bucky in that vice: Crossbones and Baron Zemo.
"In terms of that scene in Ant-Man, I've seen some of the ideas people have about it and I would just say that whatever you're seeing on the surface, it's not as obvious as that," Stan revealed.
Comments on the BuzzFeed post revealed fans' reactions to the scene, as well as their hopes to see more of it in upcoming Marvel films.
"I just hope that in the next film, which the lineup [shows] is 'Captain America: Civil War,' we see a little bit of this or at least a flashback or something. Bucky is such an interesting character and he needs to be used wisely," Alyx Reid commented.
Bob Beard of Jacksonville, California pondered that the Captain and Falcon may not be on the scene to free him especially if he is still unstable.
"[BuzzFeed is] assuming [Captain America and Falcon] are looking for help to free his arm... until he is stable mentally I don't see that as a smart move. If he is trapped, I'd say Cap and Falcon did that now they need help to get the old Bucky back," he wrote.
