We're already in the second half of 2015, and even though there are still a few months until the year's end, it's disconcerting how little we know about the upcoming Nexus 5 (2015) which is said to be released in, well, 2015.
LG's super premium phone should be launched soon, and here are the things we know about it for sure, as reported by Yibada:
It's a 5.1 inch QHD AMOLED Display with a Snapdragon 810 CPU. It runs on 3GB of RAM and has Dual front-facing speakers for better audio.
The Nexus 5 2015 is also social media friendly with a 20MP back camera, paired with a 5MP front cam for selfies.
There is also the possibility of Google releasing two Nexus phones, the 'Bullhead' from LG, and another, called the 'Angler' from Huawei.
Here are some upgrades from the 2013 version, according to Android Pit:
1) Build - while the Nexus 5 was a flagship phone made of plastic, all other major manufacturers have moved on and started using metallic, glass, or leather for their products. Unless the Nexus 5 2015 wants to be left behind, it should follow the trend, leaving a plastic flagship out of the question.
2) Display - the 2013 release is a 4.95-inch IPS LCD display, and while it may have looked great back in the day (and continues to look good), the 5.2-inch QHD is a better choice. LG has been among the pioneers of the QHD phone resolutions, so that much was expected.
3) Specs - the original Nexus 5 features a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset, and although it handles multitasking and gaming with no problem, most of today's phones already feature the octa-core chipset, and Nexus 2015 is not about to be left out.
4) Camera - every year, companies ensure that their flagship phones offer higher pixel-resolutions to their cameras, which means that if Nexus 5 2015 sticks with the 8MP that the 2013 version came with, it's going to be a downer, what with today's social media-addicted society. So it ups its ante with a 20MP back cam --- way cool, don't you think?
5) Battery - one of the biggest problems with using smartphones is the battery life, which drains much too easily, especially if you use your phone to go online. However from the 2300mAh battery of the Nexus 5, the 2015 version offers 2700mAh batteries for a longer phone life without compromising the slim design.
With all these updates, you'd think that the Nexus 5 2015 will be more expensive.
Unfortunately, that may be true. Geek Snack explained that if the price of the Nexus 5 2015 goes below $500, the handset design may be compromised.
However, we can still hope for a more affordable phone, nothing is set in stone unless formally announced by the company.
