The death of Nintendo Chief Executive Satoru Iwata was a big loss for the company, but as with every business deal, the company and consumers alike will have to move on. After Nintendo hit some rocks with the launch of 2013's Wii U, it is understood why they are looking forward to the release of the next console, known as the Nintendo NX.
During the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Screen Rant cited Iwata, who explained the early confirmation of the console: "I felt it was necessary to communicate that Nintendo is not pessimistic about the future of the dedicated game system business but rather more and more eager to continue it."
There haven't been a lot of updates regarding the NX features, and Nintendo should get on board with what other consoles have been doing if they want to compete in the market.
Here are some features of the NX that fans want to see:
1) Downloadable Games - Most consoles go for downloadable games nowadays, and people love them because of the convenience, especially when it comes to updates. Nintendo Scene noted that with downloadable games, Nintendo should also have larger storage space in the future, as the SD Card that usually comes with the previous Nintendo consoles is not nearly enough to fit in data.
2) Third-Party Developers - With companies like UbiSoft and EA withdrawing their support, Nintendo games have become very limited.
3) Integrated Blu-ray Player - If only to match up with the PS4 and XBox One, Trusted Reviews noted that Nntendo has always been about the games but when it comes to entertainment, it can only do the company some good if they went with the curve instead of staying behind it.
4) A better, less bulky controller - Nintendo Wii U's GamePad looks interesting, yes, however, it is far too chunky for Nintendo's primary target - the younger demographic, added Trusted Reviews. Of course the display screen is one of its perks, but it should do well to be a smaller, easier to handle version similar to the streamlined, ergonomic designs of the Xbox One and PS4.
5) A better approach to online gaming - Nintendo's Friend Code is long and complicated, and having to ask them from friends is too tasking, especially in a world where multiplayer gaming is not rare, Trusted Reviews explained. With such a loyal fan base, improving access to the online community will help it compete with the Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.
