Two years after she twerked her way into our forever-scarred minds, Miley Cyrus is back on MTV's Video Music Awards (VMA's).

Only this time, she will be hosting, not performing (whew!).

In a tweet on Monday, the former Disney star posted photos of of herself sporting a green alien outfit, and holding up poster boards. One read, "MTV won't let me perform" and the other, "So I'm hosting this years VMAs."

Of course, she was referencing her last performance, where she garnered a lot of controversy for twerking with Robin Thicke.

While MTV confirmed the news on its website and even shared Miley's photos on Twitter, the network refused to retweet the pop star's expletive tweet.

The awards show, which will air on August 30, is yet to announce the nominees.

According to the website, voting for all the categories will begin at 11AM ET on vma.mtv.com.

The question now is, what should people expect with Miley hosting the show? E! News said that among Miley's buzzier shenanigans include holographic cat heads, racy dancing, mini performances, and even smoking on stage.

Who knows, really? It's Miley; viewers already know to expect the unexpected from her.

In other Miley Cyrus news, The Daily Mail reported that prior to her crass VMAs announcement, the controversial 22-year-old captured the internet community's attention yet again as she posted a series of racy photos on Instagram.

One of them showed the pop star posing topless save for a pair of star-shaped nipple pasties and bright magenta lipstick. She even paid homage to her recent shoot for Paper Magazine, where she wore pasties again, as well as beaded pants to cover her modesty. Then there's the suspicious-looking "cigarette" photo.

Who knows, any of these sort of headline-grabbing stints could cover it for Miley's hosting stint.

The VMAs, which is supposed to honor artist achievements in music videos, has already had a history with limelight-grabbing unscripted moments. Besides Miley's twerking, CNN reported that it was also during the VMAs when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech in 2009, and where Britney Spears and Madonna outraged audiences with a shared kiss in 2003.

Would there be another surprise this year?

The VMAs will air from the Microsoft Theater on August 30. Nominees will be announced on Tuesday, and voting can officially begin right after the broadcast. Who do you think will be on the nominees list?
