If you don't know Xena, you should brush up on the amazing shows of the 90s.

"Xena: Warrior Princess" is set to find its way back to your television sets twenty years after its original premiere, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Just in case you don't know her, though, Xena's character first appeared on "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" in 1995.

However, due to her popularity, she got her own spinoff that aired from 1995 to 2001.

The original Xena, played by Lucy Lawless, was on a quest to redeem herself for her sins in the past. Together with her sidekick Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor), she took dow evildoers and monsters as she helped mold her friend into an Amazon warrior.

While there have been previous reports of the show having a big-screen version, the project did not materialize, and even at the recent San Diego Comic Con, hints of the reboot were scarce.

NBC, as confirmed by the Los Angeles Times, is definitely working on one.

Executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi, who were involved in the original series, are set to do the remake, which is described to be a "modern reboot."

There is little news about the involvement of Lawless on the show. However, THR sources say that many want her to have both onscreen and behind the scenes roles in the new drama, which is set to premiere by 2016.

It is not clear yet whether or not the new Xena will have a limited 13-episode run or a full-season order. Fans hope that, considering this to be a remake, the series should be ongoing and renewable.

At the "Ash vs Evil Dead" panel at the Comic Con, Lawless told HitFix that she wants to bring Xena back.

She admitted to the audience, ""I've been pitching that show ... because ... there's a swell of interest still."

THR also reported that a Xena reboot will give NBC the boost it needs as a companion for "Grimm" on their Friday slate. After all, it still has an international appeal with loyal fans.

The Sydney Morning Herald also sounded off on why a Xena reboot will be a good thing: film and television is at the age of female superheroes - Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Captain Marvel are making it big.
